Configuration

The ‘Optima’ range of Multi-Slide lathes has 2 machine bed sizes and 4 spindle capacities. The machines have a 3 axes uppe slide with capacity for 8 tools, 3 of them can be motorized. The 2 axes platen slide can up to 12 tools. 6 tools are used in the main spindle with a further 6 tools capable of working simultaneously on the second spindle. It has 4 positions for motorized tools allowing off-centre drilling and tapping. The second spindle allows the simultaneous machining of secondary operations. The machines are supplied with either an Interactive Touch Screen PC Control or Multi-Axis ISO Fagor 8070 Control; both systems allowing simultaneous machining with up to3 tools. The machines are complete with parts catcher, coolant tank and swarf conveyor.

axis platen slide: 12 tool capacity allows complex internal machining.

Optional driven tools for: differential drilling, accelerated drilling, off centre drilling and tapping, X axis milling.
3 axis upper slide: 6 tool capacity allows complex external machining. Optional driven tools for: cross hole drilling and tapping and Y and Z axis milling.

Independent second spindle: infinitely variable speed control. Component capacity the same as the main spindle. Z axis follow control for simultaneous main operation and second operation machining. Fully synchronized with the main spindle for parting off.
Fitted with an air blast and parts ejector as standard.

 

Optima axis config

 

Three operations overlapped simultaneously on the main spindle and the sub-spindle. The 3-axis upper slide and the front tool in the gang slide can machine the next component in the main spindle while, using superimposed feed with the sub-spindle and rear gang slide tool, the previous component is machined simultaneously.  This innovative feature enables 3 tools to overlap, thus considerably reducing cycle times.

 

Simultaneous overlapped milling operations on the main spindle and 2nd Op machining on the sub-spindle.This shows the 3-position motorised tool unit in the 3-axis upper slide milling on the next component in the main spindle whilst simultaneously machining the previous component using the sub spindle and boring tool in the 2-axis gang slide, considerably reducing secondary operation times.


Slide & axis configuration    6 Axis and 22 Tools.Simultaneous multi-axis operation with all axes using state-of-the-art high speed servo motors and super precision ball screws with absolute encoder positioning.  High power main spindle with high speed acceleration and optional ‘C’ axis positioning or full ‘C’ axis interpolation with the upper slide for complex machining.

 

 

Interactive Touch Screen PC or Multi-Axis ISO FAGOR Control 8070 CNC. It allows the operator to easily create component programs. The processing speed of the control enables the machine to produce the components with fast cycle times.
