Configuration

  • The Bed: has an integrated coolant tank and pump system as well as the spindle motor drive and speed control equipment. Doors provide easy access to these elements.

  • The Headstock: is manufactured from perlitic stabilised cast iron thus providing good torsional strength and resistance to vibration.  It houses the main spindle, camshaft and hardened and ground guides for the radial and axial slides.

  • The Camshafts: are located above the machining position to protect them against swarf. Onto these are mounted the flat cams for radial and axial slide movement. They run in an oil bath and changing cams is very fast.

  • Tooling Configuration: the lathe has six tools; three radial and three axial.
    Radial Tools: two tools mounted in toolholders and a third in a dovetail guideway which gives the rigidity to carry out tough machining operations.
    Axial Tools: the lathe has an axial slide moving on twin hardened and ground cylindrical slideways in which can be mounted turning tools as well as internal and external tools.

 

Equipment

  • Longitudinal Knurling Tool: the knurling tool is mounted on the drilling slide. The knurls can be adjusted onto the corresponding diameter.  It is also possible to drill simultaneously with this device. Image
  • Roller Box Turning Tool: it has the advantage of supporting the component with rollers while turning it, which helps ensure greater parallelism.Image
  • Turning and Drilling Tool: this tool is mounted in the drilling slide and is designed for turning and drilling long and delicate components.Image
  • Combined Drilling and Internal/External Threading Tool: it is mounted in the longitudinal slide. It has a capacity of up to M8 in non ferrous materials and M6 in steel with a máximum thread length of 15mm.  It has a 2 speed motor. Image
  • Internal Grooving Tool: this tool is designed for making internal grooves and undercuts for internal threads.Image
  • Circular form tool: this tool is designed for O/D machining of profile forms.Image
  • Copy Tool: this tool is designed for machining longer profile or conical forms.Image
  • Lateral Turning Tool: this tool is designed for machining components with tapers or wide exterior grooves.Image
  • Turning Tool: this tool is used for the finish turning of shafts (maximum 35mm), countersinking and chamfering.  Like the other spindle tools it is fixed to the drilling spindle. Four inter-changeable turning cutter holders are supplied: Nº202/0=0º. Nº202/15/15=15º. Nº101/30=30º. Nº202/45=45º. This tool can also drill simultaneously. Image
  • Thread Milling Tool: this accessory consists of a drive box driven from the end of the main spindle which operates a milling unit mounted on the rear cross slide.  It can be used to cut exterior threads in brass and aluminum and is used mainly when the thread is located behind the shoulder of the component. Maximum thread diameter is M14 in brass and M16 in steel.   Image
  • High Speed Drill: for drilling very small holes (less than 2-3mm). It is mounted in the standard drilling slide and has a 2,800 rpm, 0,25kw motor driving the drilling spindle by using counter rotation to the main spindle.  In this way very high surface speeds can be obtained for drilling small holes. Maximum collet diameter 6.5mm. Image
  • Twin Drilling Tool: it is mounted on the longitudinal slide, and is used when it is necessary to machine two holes in a component.   Maximum drill diameter 10mm, máximum drilling depth 20mm.Image

 

Applications

This lathe has been designed for the manufacture of small components on long production runs with  good machining tolerances
